​My name is Wayne N. Ross, and I am pleased to share my work for the River Edge Public Library while we struggle through this virus. Hopefully my art will bring beauty and joy during these trying times.

I am a proud 38 year resident of River Edge where my wife Marie and I have raised our two children, Brian and Lauren.
I am intrigued with the idea that a camera can see what the naked eye cannot. The flap of a bird’s wing, a race horse’s feet leaving the ground, the sweat and blood from a prize fighter as a punch finds its mark. Photography could be thought of as a truth machine. It doesn’t lie. It strips away any preconceived notion of an event.  Moreover, photography is a Time Machine. It freezes time and preserves that instant forever. Looking at old photos of family, friends and events can be a trigger of renewed joy and also at times sadness. The magical box brought to eye level along with the click of the shutter is indeed a powerful tool capable of bringing forth a full range of emotions from the viewer.
Shooting for over 40 years, I have developed the following Mantra for my craft. Be still. Empty yourself of all thought, and the photograph will come to you! Following this practice has been the bedrock of my nature photos as well as street photography. ​
